Internets whoppee do!

Hey guess what?

I'm BAAAAAAAAAACKKKKKKKKK.

I got a killer little mini Dell, wireless connection, and even dragged out the sewing machine to make a fab computer case.

Seriously, I'm pretty proud that I made this without crumbling into tears or swearing like a sailor (there were some tense moments at the end though). I used quilting batting to pad the bag and I think it'll work, it's not exactly tough but it'll protect from scratches.

I even made a pouch for the cord - this was my first time trying a zipper and it presented a definate challenge to my very basic sewing skills. It took much more time than I think it would take anyone else, but eh, my husband was out of town and this was more fun than watching tv.

Here's what I'll look like if I cruise around town with my new stuff.

Now I'll be able to rejoin the conversation from almost anywhere! I can't wait to catch up with everyone!!!

Purse and a minor rant

Figured I’d show you my new purse. Its Nine West, via Marshalls. I’ve actually had it a couple months, but never got around to switching purses (I usually stick to one main purse at a time). I made the transfer before heading to LA, and really like this purse. It hold a fair amount of stuff and looks sharp.

And now time for a rant about feeling disconnected:

Not sure if this is happening to anyone else, but despite all the phone/email/text/facebook connections, I feel completly disconnected and quite frankly a little hurt sometimes.

Today I found out that an old friend of mine is pregnant. On facebook. Understandably, we’ve grown apart some in the last couple of years: she lives in Miami – I live in Houston. But we were great friends throughout high school and college. She is the person that moved me out to Texas. And I find out that she is pregnant on facebook?

It wouldn't hurt if it was just her, but this is the third person that this has happened with. Either I’m a much worse friend than I thought with keeping in touch, or people just don’t feel like sharing this information in a personal way. I don’t know, but it actually kind of hurts my feelings. I mean, that is BIG BIG news, right?

I felt unimportant finding out through ominous comments by family members on facebook pages.

Maybe I’m placing too much importance on them telling me? I mean, I’m not the person that is pregnant, so obviously they have a lot on thier minds and telling me isn't top priority. I get that. But, I don’t know, it feels not-good.

Thought I’d throw that out there..I’m having a moment.

Lucky for me – I’ll be on vacation in a couple hours and this moment should be swept away very soon. Hope to rejoin with a renewed sense of "ahhhhhhhh"

stud muffin

I whipped out my gemagic last night and made a boring little black purse pretty rad:

The photographs STINK, but you should be able to tell that it's a combination of silver and gold studs. It came out pretty cute, I'm going to use it this weekend when I go out with girlfriends.

Total cost

Purse: $1.99 at goodwill

Gemagic set: $2.00 (although, this price is a little incorrect b/c I didn't use up the set - i can use it a million more times!)

Studs: $1.00 (came from a set of 200 bedazzler studs that were $5.99, but I obviously didn't use the entire package)

TOTAL = Less than 5 bucks!

Purse dumpage

Since I figured that some have shared the contents of their purses, I would follow suit. Plus, once I saw the contents of mine today I was laughing and thought you might too.



I believe you can click to enlarge, but let me know if not. There are a couple avon products because I got them this morning. My coworker sells it and I love the delivery days. It’s like Christmas (except I have to cut a check – and actually that’s the only reason I even had my checkbook in there today).

There is a lot of lipstick in my purse; I always like to have something on my lips even if it’s a nude gloss.

There are also a lot of sharpies in there. I find them extra useful and always throw one in my bag.

There are coupons that I got from Glamour magazine. I thought I might use them at the mall, but I didn’t want anything from those stores. Eh.

The jaguar pouch holds my electronic stuff: camera cord, mp3 player, and jump drive.

When I carry a small purse, that is the first thing to get kicked out!

I'm a big fan of pouches right now. I have another pouch that I use for my ladytime products, but yippee thats not today :)

That's me today...loads of unintentional khaki. It's unbelievably cold in my office and the sweater is one of several "office sweaters". Not great, but matches a lot of outfits and is thrown on to ward off frostbite.

These are some of my wants...maybe I'll save up a little and get the blush. That's probably number one on the list today.
